In the Char areas of Shariatpur district, river erosion leads to not only the destruction of homes and livelihoods but also significant non-economic loss and damage, including the erosion of cultural identity, mental health deterioration, and the breakdown of social cohesion.
To address one challenge on health, SDS integrates free health support services into its Non-Economic Loss and Damage Special Initiative project by organizing community-based Health Camp at Kunderchar union under Jazira Upazila focused on health facilities for pregnant mothers, children and adolescent girls those who are deprived from health services due to living at char area. The patients got medical facilities under this event by special doctors Md. Sanowar Hossain Khan, MBBS, Assistant Director (CC) and Md. Zakir Hossain, MBBS, Health Department, Jazira Upazila while Assistant coordinator, SDS Mahabub Alam, Project Coordinator Abdur Razzaq,k MEAL Officer Nazrul Islam and FO Tamim Hossain, Ashfak Ahmmed and Shafayet Hossain Shaon were present to assist for running the camp.
