Project Goal: To increase the income of the entrepreneur through fattening of cows and expansion of market along with overall environmental development of the project area.

Project Brief: Enhancing environmental sustainability and climate resilience are becoming increasingly important for sustaining Bangladesh’s economic progress. In the microenterprise sector, attention to environmental sustainability and climate resilience is limited due to a mix of capacity, market accessibility, knowledge and financial barriers. While the statistics show a high contribution to GDP from microenterprises, there is little evidence to show that microenterprises are growing in a sustainable way.

In the Beef fattening sector about 80% MEs have no proper drainage in their farm, 78% have no disposable site and 52% have no initiative to control odor, insects and mosquito breeding in their farm. Most of MEs are not aware of farm waste management. Safety issues in the work place have ignored. Peoples were used surface water for their daily washing purpose. Level of environmental and regulatory awareness was either very poor or ignored.

The sustainability of environment will ensure the improved eco-friendly practices among the targeted MEs through the facilitation and motivation to construct environment friendly farm house. Improved cow-dung management. Support in high yielding fodder cultivation, awareness building training of the MEs about the eco-friendly beef fattening. The project will also work on proper drainage; arrange disposable site, control odor, insects and mosquito breeding, proper vaccination, availability of veterinary services, purchase medicine from authentic sources, medical wastes management and to ensure quarantine facility for newly purchased animals.
