Cash and Hygiene Kit Distributed to River Erosion-Affected Families

Emergency cash assistance and hygiene kits have been distributed among river erosion-affected families at Sattar Madbor Kandi (Majhir Ghat) in Zanjira Upazila of Shariatpur District.
This initiative was implemented by the Shariatpur Development Society (SDS) with the support of Start Fund Bangladesh, under the project titled “Emergency Humanitarian Assistance for River Erosion-Affected Communities in Shariatpur.”
81 affected family received BDT 6,000 via bKash as emergency cash support, along with a hygiene kit worth BDT 1,600, which included the following 12 items:
1. Bath soap – 5 pieces (each 100g)
2. Laundry soap – 4 pieces (each 125g)
3. Toothpaste – 2 tubes (each 85g)
4. Toothbrush – 5 pieces
5. Sanitary pad – 2 packs (10 pads per pack)
6. Nail cutter – 1 piece
7. Comb – 2 pieces
8. Bucket – 1 piece (16 liters)
9. Mug – 1 piece (1.5 liters)
10. Towel – 1 medium-sized
11. Detergent powder – 1 kg
12. Small towel – 2 pieces
The event was graced by the chief guest, (UNO) Ms. Kaberi Roy. The event was presided over by SDS Executive Director Ms. Rabeya Begum, and the special guest was Ms. Tasnima Mukit, representative of Start Fund Bangladesh. Senior officials of SDS and project staff were also present.
In their speeches, the guests emphasized the importance of standing beside disaster-affected communities and praised the efforts of SDS and Start Fund Bangladesh in providing timely humanitarian assistance.
At the end of the program, beneficiary families expressed their gratitude to SDS and Start Fund Bangladesh for their support and care.
