শরীয়তপুর জেলার জাজিরা ও নড়িয়া উপজেলার ৫টি ইউনিয়নে (জাজিরা, পূর্ব নাওডোবা, কুণ্ডেরচর, নওপাড়া এবং চর আত্রা) শিশু ও যুবদের নেতৃত্বে জলবায়ু অভিযোজন এবং পরিবেশগত সহনশীলতা বৃদ্ধির লক্ষ্যে শুরু হয়েছে “CLIMATE” প্রকল্প । Barnfonden Insamlingsstiftelse-এর অর্থায়নে এবং এসডিএস- এর বাস্তবায়নে ৩ বছর মেয়াদী (জানুয়ারি ২০২৬ থেকে ডিসেম্বর ২০৮) এই প্রকল্পের মাধ্যমে মোট ৬,০৫০ জন শিশু, যুব, নারী ও স্থানীয় অংশীজন উপকৃত হবেন । আজ জেলা প্রশাসকের কার্যালয়ের সম্মেলন কক্ষে আয়োজিত প্রকল্প অবহিতকরণ সভায় প্রধান অতিথি হিসেবে উপস্থিত থেকে শরীয়তপুরের জেলা প্রশাসক মিজ তাহসিনা বেগম বলেন, জলবায়ু পরিবর্তন ও দুর্যোগ ঝুঁকি মোকাবিলায় শিশু ও যুবদের উদ্ভাবনী চিন্তা ও নেতৃত্ব অত্যন্ত গুরুত্বপূর্ণ ।
সভায় সভাপতিত্ব করেন এসডিএস-এর নির্বাহী পরিচালক জনাব রাবেয়া বেগম, যিনি জানান যে এই প্রকল্পের মাধ্যমে জলবায়ু ঝুঁকিপূর্ণ এলাকায় অন্তর্ভুক্তিমূলক কমিউনিটি উদ্যোগ ও পরিবেশ সংরক্ষণ জোরদার করা হবে । প্রকল্প ব্যবস্থাপক বাসুদেব চক্রবর্তী এবং উপ-পরিচালক (প্রকল্প) কাজী মোঃ সাফওয়াত হোসেনের পরিচালনায় এই সভায় সরকারি কর্মকর্তা, শিক্ষক, গণমাধ্যমকর্মী ও যুব প্রতিনিধিরা অংশ নিয়ে শরীয়তপুরে একটি টেকসই ও পরিবেশ-সহনশীল সমাজ গড়ার আশাবাদ ব্যক্ত করেন ।
SDS, with financial support from Barnfonden Insamlingsstiftelse, has launched the “CLIMATE” Project to strengthen climate adaptation and environmental resilience through child- and youth-led initiatives in five unions of Janjira and Naria upazilas in Shariatpur District Janjira, Purba Naodoba, Kunderchar, Noapara, and Char Atra. The three-year project, running from January 2026 to December 2028, aims to directly benefit 6,050 children, youth, women, and local stakeholders by promoting inclusive community engagement and climate resilience. A Project Orientation Meeting was held today at the Conference Hall of the Deputy Commissioner’s Office in Shariatpur. Attending the event as the Chief Guest, Ms. Tahsina Begum, Deputy Commissioner of Shariatpur, emphasized that the innovative ideas and leadership of children and young people are vital for addressing the challenges of climate change and disaster risk reduction.
The meeting was chaired by Ms. Rabeya Begum, Executive Director of SDS, who highlighted that the project will strengthen inclusive community initiatives and environmental conservation efforts in climate-vulnerable areas. The session was facilitated by Mr. Basudeb Chakraborty, Project Manager, and Mr. Kazi Md. Safwat Hossain, Deputy Director (Programs). Government officials, teachers, media representatives, and youth leaders participated in the meeting and expressed their commitment to building a sustainable and climate-resilient society in Shariatpur.
