SDS Participates in the ‘South Asia Regional Forum’

SAARC, Terre des Hommes Netherlands, UNICEF, Plan International, UNFPA, GNB, World Vision

Firm Commitment to Building a Child-Marriage-Free South Asia: SDS Participates in the ‘South Asia Regional Forum’
With the objective of strengthening regional cooperation and taking effective measures to prevent child marriage, the ‘South Asia Regional Forum to End Child Marriage’ was held on October 14–15 in Kathmandu, Nepal. Executive Director Ms. Rabeya Begum represented SDS at this significant regional forum, jointly organized by SAARC, Terre des Hommes Netherlands, UNICEF, Plan International, UNFPA, GNB, World Vision, and Child Fund International.
The event was highly fruitful, providing a platform to exchange views with representatives, policymakers, and changemakers from various South Asian countries, share ground realities and experiences, and develop strategic roadmaps.
One of the Key Achievements of the Conference:
A ‘Common Regional Action Plan’ was formulated with the goal of preventing and completely eliminating child marriage in South Asia. This reflects our collective responsibility to protect every child’s rights, empower adolescent girls, establish gender equality, and ensure a safe and dignified childhood.
We firmly believe that through sustainable partnerships, clear plans, and strong grassroots initiatives, we can build a child-marriage-free South Asia where every child can fearlessly pursue their dreams.
Let us cross the borders of commitment and ensure a bright and secure future for every child through collective social action.
