World Bank Vice President (Operations Policy and Country Services) Mr. Ed. Mountfield visited field level activities of (RAISE) and (SEP) project jointly funded by PKSF and World Bank which is implementing by SDS.

Among others during the visit were PKSF Additional Managing Director Md Fazlul Quader; World Bank External Affairs Advisor Uvimana Basaninienji, Chief Economist and RAISE Project Task Team Leader S. Amer Ahmed, Senior Social Protection Specialist Anika Rahman and PKSF General Manager and RAISE Project Coordinator Dilip Kumar Chakraborty.

Besides, on behalf of SDS, Professor Md. Sirajul Haque (President, Executive Council, SDS), Mr. MM Jahangir (Vice President, Executive Council, SDS), Mr. Rabeya Begum (Executive Director), Mr. BM Kamrul Hasan (Director MF) and other officials. Was present

After the visit, the vice president of the World Bank Mr. Ed. Mountfield said “There is no alternative to inclusive development to transform Bangladesh into an upper-middle income country. It is not possible to ensure economically, socially and environmentally sustainable development by excluding the backward 40 percent of the society.

He added, “Besides providing support to small enterprises, we are also creating opportunities for entrepreneurs to develop business skills, inculcate entrepreneurial spirit and engage in dignified employment, which paves the way for their inclusion in the mainstream of development.” Appreciating the activities of PKSF and SDS being implemented at the field level, he said, “I am impressed by these activities”.
